Seattle

Seattle, Washington is an interesting city with an even more interesting history. If you are planning to visit this neat city there are a few attractions you will want to make sure are on your list of things to do. Before you get to those however, you should make plans to enjoy plenty of fabulous Seattle dining and shopping while enjoying all the great sights.

Seattle Underground
If you've ever heard the term “Skid Road,” you might be interested to learn that it originated in Pioneer Square, which is also where you will find the Seattle Underground walking tour. If you want a glimpse of the history of Seattle, this is the place to get it.

In case you are wondering what the Seattle Underground is, it is an area of the city that was once street level. In 1889 there was a massive fire that destroyed 33 city blocks. After the fire the city decided that rather than rebuilding the area as it was, they would literally raise the streets and essentially rebuild the city two stories higher than it was originally.

The Underground is essentially, what was left behind of the original area. While you are in the area you should also pay a visit to the Klondike Gold Rush Museum and Elliott Bay Book Company as well as the Smith Tower Observation Deck.

The Space Needle

Perhaps the most famous landmark Seattle has to offer, the Space Needle is a popular destination for tourists. Whether you want to take in the sights of Seattle from a bird's eye view or you are simply looking for a great place to eat the Space Needle can give you an outing to remember. Be sure to snap a few photos from up high and grab a few goodies from the gift shop to bring home. This is an absolute must for anyone travelling to Seattle and an amazing view of the sound, the city, and the mountains in the distance.

The Experience Music Project and Science Fiction Museum

Music lovers will appreciate the offerings of the Experience Music Project. This museum is not your ordinary museum. Instead it offers a more ‘hands on' approach to those interested in exploring music, creativity, and sound while learning the rich history of music not only in America but around the world.

The Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame is the first of its kind in the world. This museum explores science fiction as it applies to literature, film, and the human imagination. If you have an interest in science fiction then this museum should definitely be on your list of things to do in Seattle.

The Ballard Locks

A great Seattle attraction that is free to visitors, the Ballard Locks is a popular place to visit while in Seattle. This is especially true during the summer months when the salmon can be spotted and there are free concerts on Sunday afternoons.
