Ballinger Park - Lake Washington Park

Discovery Park
This amazing park is over 500 acres of wilderness located just on the edge of the city. Here you can have fun exploring open fields, woods, waters edges as well as trying to spot some native wildlife. There are lots of paths here with the Loop Trial being a popular one, and covers approximately 4km. You can also walk to the West Point Lighthouse for some great views of the area. 3801 W Government Way (206 386 4236)

Gasworks Park
This park along the shores of Lake Union offers great views of the city and covers over 20 acres of hills and parkland. Situated on the old Gasworks site it still houses some of the factories monstrosities that are now covered in graffiti. There is a children's playground here called the playbarn, it is different and very entertaining for the young. There is also a 16km bike or jogging track here. 2101 N Northlake Way

Green Lake Park
This is a very popular recreational reserve due to its 5km path that is used for walking, jogging, rollerblading and cycling. The lake also has activities such as paddle boat , canoe and kayak hire. 7201 East Green Lake Dr N

Kerry Park

Kobe Terrace Park
You can't miss the 200 year old stone lantern at the entrance to this park. Little winding paths take you through rows of cherry trees and you can enjoy the views of Puget Sound and the city. Washington Street

Ravenna Park
This great neighborhood park offers 50 acres of ravines and channels that you an stroll through. 5520 Ravenna Avenue NE (206 684 4075)

Washington Park
With over 230 acres of parkland this area boasts more than five thousand plant and tree species. A highlight is the huge Arboretum which has wetlands and plants from 75 different countries. You can pick up a trail map that will direct you on some walks that takes in ponds, rock gardens and flower beds. The Japanese Garden here is a must see as well. Waterfall Park
Yes it does have a waterfall of 22 metres and is a pleasant place to sit and rest. East of Occidental Park
